I’m Wali Ahmed, a 20-year-old freshman from Lahore, Pakistan, and a first-generation college student at DKU, majoring in Political Economics. With aspirations of becoming the Prime Minister of my country, I’m passionate about leadership and community service, having served as the Community Service President at my school, founded an NGO in Pakistan, and even taught science to deaf children. I’m also an enthusiast of literature and philosophy (yes, I’ve taken Prof. Ciao’s classes), and I love exploring new ideas—be it over dinner conversations or unconventional business ventures. I’m excited to apply for the Student Leaders Board because I believe in creating a campus environment where everyone feels heard and included. If selected, I aim to advocate for increased funding for cultural activities, enabling us to organize larger-scale events like the Mock Shaadi we successfully carried out with SAO. I also want to foster stronger collaboration between students and the administration, acting as a bridge to convey student concerns more effectively. Additionally, I would work on initiatives to expand halal, vegan, and vegetarian food options in the cafeteria, addressing dietary needs that many, including myself and my friends, have struggled with. I also hope to engage with the administration to realign certain major requirements, ensuring they better meet students’ academic and career goals. Through this role, I aim to not only amplify student voices but also contribute to shaping a more inclusive and vibrant campus experience for all.
