Intercultural Synergy | Art Curation | Event Planning | Community Building

I’m Ruixiang HU, a junior majoring in Global Cultural Studies. My DKU journey has been defined by building community and empowering student-led initiatives. As the former Executive Director of the Campus Activities Board (CAB), I led a 14-member team in executing large-scale events for over 1,000 participants. Concurrently, as Co-President of the Film Society, I have been focusing on curating academic and cultural programs, securing grants, and fostering a niche community.

These leadership roles revealed the significant challenges many student leaders face—navigating complex administrative logistics, securing resources, and coordinating with university departments. I am applying to the SLB because its core mission to empower rather than manage/control deeply resonates with my experience. I want to leverage my skills in a supportive capacity, helping our student leaders succeed more efficiently.

Moreover, if selected for the Intercultural Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, I aim to make use of my background in both large-scale event planning and cultural curation. I believe art is a powerful tool for fostering dialogue and inclusion. My experience organizing projects like “Hack the Museum” with the dKunst program has shown me how art can activate campus spaces and engage diverse audiences. I plan to develop initiatives that empower various student organizations—especially cultural and identity-based ones—to use artistic expression as a primary medium for their programming. My goal is to help these leaders take full advantage of our resources, navigate through logistics, and showcase their unique perspectives, turning the campus into a more vibrant and inclusive gallery of student voices.
