“You’re my self-propelling missile, don’t forget it.”
This is what my father tells me whenever I’m stressed or anxious. A reminder of my capabilities as the eldest daughter who balances countless responsibilities and
who always shows up when needed. My identity is rooted in adaptability.
Being raised in a bustling family of six and the constant motion of
transferring cities every two years has molded me into
someone who thrives in chaos and change. It has honed
my skills to navigate differences in culture, personalities
and opinion. It has made me a person who delivers
against all odds.
Due to these skills I see myself as a perfect fit for SLB. I envision being part of the board in collaborating to further grow and innovate existing projects like the
Language Partners Program. A key personal goal will be increasing Duke-DKU collaboration, through expanding KSAC, initiating new projects or both. Additionally, I see the platform SLB provides as crucial in bringing student voices to light. While taking guidance from the learnings of the previous SLB team, new initiatives can be made more impactful and meaningful. As someone deeply engaged with the DKU community around her, I’m deeply aware of student concerns and opinions. It is
only through SLB that I now see a productive way forward in bringing those concerns to light and in essence make them visible. The opportunity through SLB to be part of a team of high achieving people and the close collaboration with leading university faculty will be nothing short of an invaluable experience in my learning journey at DKU.
