My mom named me Nathan after the male lead of her favorite television show, “One Tree Hill”. And my family name comes from my dad, but if given the chance, I’m sure my mom would want to change it to be dramatic and memorable like Nathan “Godfrey” or something like that. But funny enough, I have adopted my mom’s love for television shows. Honestly, if I’m not busy with my academic or my various club responsibilities, I’m 9 out of 10 times watching TV. Not only is TV my escape from reality, but it is also a platform where serious issues can be brought to mainstream attention. I make it my responsibility to learn about such issues, and my goal is to bring feasible solutions to solve them, hence, fueling my ambition to become part of the Student Leaders Board.
I want to apply for the Student Leaders Board because I believe in leading with FIRE: flexibility allows me to adapt to different points of view and find common ground, inclusivity ensures every student feels represented, respect in regards to how I approach discussions and decision-making, and eagerness drives my commitment to create positive change on campus. Through SLB, I hope to apply these values to strengthen the connection between students and faculty. By leading with FIRE, I aim to help make DKU an even more supportive and solution-minded environment.
