Class of 2029

As a student, I care about what we and the school can do to contribute to better college lives.

My name is Evelina Zhang, a first-year student at Duke Kunshan University. Growing up, I have always been inspired by the people around me—teachers, family members, and mentors—whose guidance has shaped my sense of responsibility and empathy. These experiences have motivated me to give back to my community and to help create a supportive and inclusive campus environment.
Having served as a class monitor for three years and participated in multiple volunteer projects, I have learned to listen attentively, communicate effectively, and coordinate among diverse groups. I believe that leadership is not about authority but about service—understanding others’ needs and bridging communication between students and the school.
I am eager to contribute and confident in my ability to make a difference. With strong time management and organizational skills, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA in my first session, demonstrating my ability to balance academic and extracurricular responsibilities. I always strive to be someone who embodies and reflects the values of our school community.
By joining the Student Leaders Board, I hope to use my experience to represent students’ voices and strengthen the connection between students and the university. I aim to promote open dialogue, encourage mutual understanding, and support initiatives that help every student feel heard and valued. Through this opportunity, I aspire to grow as a responsible leader who contributes positively to both the DKU community and society beyond.
