UNICEF youth leader, global activist, speaker, and advocate for EDIB - opportunity for all

Having been at DKU for three months, I’ve already noticed areas where change is needed. As a well-known face on campus, many recognise me as someone who pushes for improvement — whether in the dorms, classrooms, or canteen. However, I’ve realised that as an individual student, my ability to advocate for others is limited without the support of a board.
I’ve always stood firm by the belief that when given the chance to do good, one should do good. From small acts like holding a door open to supporting others through financial hardship, I strive to stay true to that principle. At DKU, I want to embrace that mindset and inspire others to take initiative. I’ve noticed that while many students are well-intentioned, empathy towards our helpers is often overlooked — messes are left behind in buildings and the canteen, and frustration about university systems tends to remain as complaints rather than action.
To channel these concerns into something productive, I’m running as a board member on the SLB. My name is Rafaa Elamin, and I’m a first-year student driven by a passion for change. Being an older sister has taught me that change is inevitable — and often begins with initiative. Along with my public speaking and presentation skills, I bring insight, creativity, and a fresh perspective to the SLB. As someone who never stops talking, the upside is that I never stop generating new ideas- and I know the importance of being able to ask the right questions to reach better solutions together.
