My name is Chang Liu, and my English name is Athena. I’m a freshman driven by a profound belief in service-oriented leadership. My experiences, from mediating conflicts as a Discipline Minister to being a core member of the Youngster Club, have equipped me with a unique skill set focused on upholding community standards while fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. I am a pragmatic idealist, passionate about translating student needs into tangible campus improvements.
I am applying to the Student Leaders Board to contribute this perspective directly to the institutional-level work that shapes our student experience. The SLB’s record of achieving concrete outcomes, such as enhancing residential cleanliness and re-establishing KSAC, demonstrates a commitment to action that I deeply admire. I want to be part of a team that doesn’t just identify problems but collaboratively builds the solutions.
If selected, I aim to focus on initiatives that bridge community gaps and enhance daily student life. Drawing from my background, I am particularly interested in working on projects related to campus safety and community standards, ensuring our policies are both effective and clearly communicated. Furthermore, I am passionate about amplifying the Language Partners Program and similar initiatives that promote intercultural exchange. I want to help create more structured, low-barrier opportunities for meaningful connection between domestic and international students. My goal is to ensure every student feels heard, represented, and invested in our shared community. I am confident that my blend of disciplinary experience and philanthropic collaboration makes me a prepared and dedicated candidate ready to contribute to the SLB’s legacy as a powerhouse for student advocacy.
