Welcome to the DKU Family! In April, you will:
- Complete IEM commitment requirements and matriculate to DKU as a student (deadline: May 1)
- Now: Check that you have a passport that is valid through at least June, 2025, and at least two blank visa pages
In May, things start to take off following your commitment to the University! You will:
- Early May: look an email from DKU IT with instructions on activating your DKU NetID and DKU email.
- Early May: Start Reviewing the Visa application process – and review the Chinese Consulate/Embassy information for your country on the X1 Student Visa Application Process
- Mid-May: Complete ISS Visa Survey (sent to your DKU email)
- A week after filling out your visa survey (around the 4th week of May): Attend live or watch ISS Visa Guidance Session online to learn about the full visa application process, and ask questions
Tasks for June will include:
- Early June: Receive your JW-202 form and DKU Admission Notice for your visa application
- Early-Mid June: Comple your DKU room assignment application
- Early-Mid June: Evaluate travel options, and book your travel to China (arrive no later than August 9, and no earlier than a few days prior)
- Late June: Submit your visa application
Get ready to arrive! August is a time for any final preparation before actually arriving in China and moving in to campus:
- Finish packing, transportation preparation, and last-minute details
- Review arrival instructions at the airport/getting to campus
- Move-in and start orientation on August 9th!
- Get settled at DKU with practical needs during orientation, and create the friendships and community that will be with you for the next four years of your education
- Prepare and register for classes DURING orientation along with all other first-year students
