Hello! My name is Annie Tong, and I’m a junior majoring in Media and Arts. I use photography to explore personal topics surrounding identity and the idea of community. I’ve actively documented moments of DKU life, from major events like the Arts and Music Festival to guest lectures and sports matches. Outside of photography, I’m passionate about sports, particularly volleyball and badminton. I’ve served as the president of the volleyball club and am currently a member of the Sports Club Executive Board, where I help foster collaboration among different sports at DKU. I’m eager to apply for the Co-Chair position of the Student Leader Board because I am passionate about advocating for student needs and elevating their voices, especially those who may feel underrepresented or overlooked. Through my experiences as a club president, athlete, member of the Sports Club Executive Board, and Clubs and Organization Assistant, I have gained understanding of the administrative structure at DKU, recognizing both the opportunities and challenges that come with it. Through these different perspectives, I can effectively act as a bridge across different communities on campus. If selected, I would focus on promoting a campus culture that encourages active student input, involvement, and open discussion regarding issues within DKU. As club president, I valued student feedback and discussion, using it to guide decisions that satisfied the needs of club members and administration. As Co-Chair, I would dedicate myself to understanding all feedback to identify the most effective solutions. Gathering student feedback and discussing potential opportunities and possible limitations is essential to the restructuring process. During my time as Co-Chair, I aim to involve students in every step of the process, taking practical steps to fostering a more inclusive and close knit community.
My name is Guangzhi (Allen) Su, a junior majoring in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. Passionate about fostering collaboration and inclusivity, I thrive in creating environments where diverse perspectives are shared. As the founder of the DKU Finance Club and DKU Computer Science Club, I have led initiatives like HackDKU, our first annual hackathon, and organized 20+ activities to support student needs. Additionally, as a United Nations Millennium Fellow, I initiated a project inviting international students to volunteer as English teachers in the local community, amplifying DKU’s spirit of diversity. As a student, I recognize the importance of providing platforms for peers to express their thoughts and aspirations for transformation. Gathering feedback and adapting initiatives in the Finance Club taught me how listening to others leads to meaningful outcomes. At the same time, working closely with school departments has given me insight into the challenges faculty face, motivating me to act as a bridge that fosters mutual understanding and productive dialogue. I believe the Student Leaders Board offers a unique opportunity to connect students and faculty while providing actionable insights to decision-makers. My leadership and research experiences have prepared me to represent student needs authentically and advocate for solutions that benefit the broader community. As a proud member of the DKU community, I also see this role as an opportunity to share our unique stories as a spokesperson. Through initiatives like HackDKU and my Millennium Fellow project, I have championed DKU’s innovative vision on global platforms. I aim to strengthen communication, build trust, and foster a campus environment where everyone feels valued. Being part of the Student Leaders Board is both an honor and a responsibility, and I am committed to making a meaningful impact.
