I am Haiyue Yang, a bold and enthusiastic freshman in class 2028. I have a good academic performance and have actively been seeking opportunities to achieve personal growth. I also have a wide range of interests, such as music, sports, and photography, to be engaged in numerous campus activities. I also have excellent communication skills to be able to build good relationships with people from different nations. I am here for the SLB co-chair because I found there are still some problems waiting to be solved on this beloved campus. For example, as an intercultural campus, we do not currently have an emergent medical team for possible emergent cases. If I am selected, I will introduce professional medical first-aid training for students and have student workers help with emergent circumstances. Moreover, there are still some inconveniences on campus that I found as a student, such as improper use of classified trash cans and the lack of carton recycling, which will highly influence residents’ life quality and sustainability. Personally, I would like to regard this position as an opportunity to achieve personal growth. One significant reason I mentioned during the campus day interview was that I want to grow with this thriving campus. My vision of finding problems and my ability to solve problems would be greatly improved during my tenure in this position. Furthermore, although I have already learned the basic social rules in different cultures, I am still eager for opportunities to work more jointly and closely with people from different cultural backgrounds. Last but not least, I am passionate and confident, willing to contribute my time to the joint growth of me and DKU.
It’s pretty hard to say anything about myself. Any person has so much they have been through, so much they’ve done, they do and want to do in the future. To narrow yourself down to words and only 300 at that, can be daunting. Talking to people, having shared experiences, learning why they think the way they do, what their dreams and ideas are is one of the best things about being a human – in my opinion. That’s why I think the role of a Student Leader Board member draws me so much. It basically makes me responsible for getting to know people, how they feel and what they want – and trying to help them reach it. Contributing to the creation of the environment that DKU provides and trying to continuously make it a better place for everyone to grow, express themselves and explore – is something I would find honor and enjoyment in. The time I’ve spent here already made me realize that this is a really special place. And I want to contribute as much as I can – to not only keep it that way – but to push beyond. As to who I am; My name is Matyas ;) I’m from a somewhat rural part of the Czech Republic. Planing to study Cell and Molecular Biology. I like music… just about to enter a band competition so wish us luck! I try to always find new interesting things and skills to learn. I love traveling and very often completely without a plan. Meeting interesting new people when I travel is the best part.
