As a sophomore majoring in Applied Mathematics at Duke Kunshan University, I’ve embraced the diverse and dynamic environment our campus offers. My journey at DKU has been marked by rich cross-cultural experiences and interdisciplinary pursuits that have shaped my perspective and aspirations. I am applying for the Student Leaders Board because I believe in the power of diverse voices and collaborative leadership to enhance our university community and build the bridge for interdisciplinary communication. My outlook for the DKU community focuses on three key areas: Firstly, I want to strengthen cross-cultural understanding on campus. Drawing from my experiences living with international roommates and participating in the Global Citizen community, I recognize the immense value of intercultural exchange. I plan to initiate programs that facilitate meaningful interactions between students from different cultural backgrounds. Secondly, I aspire to create more opportunities for interdisciplinary dialogue. My involvement in various projects, including the TT101 Professor interviews and my own interdisciplinary studies, has shown me the importance of bridging academic divides. I want to establish platforms where students from different majors can share ideas and collaborate on innovative projects. Lastly, I aim to enhance student support systems. My experiences with the Muhe Psychology program and participation in social practice projects have highlighted the importance of peer support and community engagement. I want to work on initiatives that promote mental health awareness and provide resources for students to thrive both academically and personally. By serving on the Student Leaders Board, I hope to contribute to creating a more inclusive, interconnected, and supportive environment at DKU. I am excited about the opportunity to work alongside fellow students and administrators to shape our university’s future and ensure that every student’s voice is heard and valued.
