I’m Sherry Xie .As a freshman at DKU with a keen interest in Public Policy, I am eager to contribute to the DKU Student Leadership Board (DKSLB) and, in turn, develop skills that will support my academic and career aspirations. Although my experience in social activities is limited, I see this as an opportunity to grow and gain valuable insight into the needs and perspectives of a diverse community. My goal is to better understand how to quickly and effectively identify and address the needs of my peers, which is essential for any aspiring policy-maker. Currently, I am working as a student assistant in the International Student Service (ISS), where I have already begun to engage with students from around the world. This role has helped me build confidence in intercultural communication, an essential skill for creating bridges between students of different backgrounds. I am confident that I can bring this same enthusiasm and dedication to the DKSLB by facilitating meaningful cross-cultural exchanges and ensuring a supportive environment for all students. Being part of DKSLB is important to me not only for personal growth but also because I want to contribute my energy and ideas to DKU’s vision of fostering global citizens. I am committed to upholding DKU’s inclusive values and am ready to bring my adaptability, empathy, and drive to this role. Through DKSLB, I hope to gain practical experience that will inform my future work in international organizations and equip me to make a meaningful impact in Public Policy.
