My name is Hetian Xu, a first-year student at Duke Kunshan University who is passionate about communication, creativity, and community building. In high school, I served as a member of the Student Council and the Director of the Host Center at the Zijingang Campus of Hangzhou Xuejun High School. These roles trained me to organize events, lead teams, and engage students through meaningful and enjoyable activities. At DKU, I continued to grow my leadership experience by hosting the Orientation Week Talent Show and joining both the Front Desk and Media Team at the Sports Complex.
I am applying for the Student Leaders Board because I care deeply about making our campus atmosphere more connected and harmonious. DKU’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths, and I want to help bridge differences and promote understanding among students from various backgrounds.
If selected, I hope to collaborate with other board members to design interesting and interactive workshops centered on diverse topics—such as cultural exchange, stress management, leadership, and communication. These workshops can offer students opportunities to express themselves, share ideas, and build friendships across different communities. In addition, I would like to use my hosting and event-planning experience to make these activities both engaging and welcoming, so every student feels included and heard.
Through this position, I hope to strengthen my teamwork and leadership skills while contributing to a more vibrant, understanding, and supportive DKU community.
