A: Unfortunately, you will not be eligible to apply as a board member or chair at this time. However, you are still able to participate in the endorsement period for your peers, or apply to the board committees as a fellow in the spring – which would be a valuable contribution to this initiative at DKU.
A: No specific leadership experience is required to apply. We encourage everyone who is interested in serving their peers and making DKU a better place to apply. The application process is a great experience for you to explore yourself and engage with the community.
A: Duke Kunshan Student Leaders Board is not a student union or student government; students in the Board are not directly elected by the fellow students. However, the Board performs some similar functions, such as bridging student voices with the administration, and developing or co-developing programs that would benefit the student community. Additionally, the concept of the Student Leaders Board is to develop a core group of seasoned student leaders on campus from a wide range of involvement; members of the Student Leaders Board will be called upon to represent the University with community and industry leaders, and will be relied upon to constructively collaborate with the University on important initiatives and feedback.
A: Staff advisors of the Student Leaders Board advise and develop all students involved in the Board. As experienced members of the DKU community, they serve as your resources and partners in achieving your goals in the Board.
A: If you meet eligibility requirements and will be returning to campus for the Spring 2025 semester onwards, you can apply. You will go through the endorsement period and the interview period virtually.
A: Yes. We will still consider you as a board member if you and your partner are not selected as a co-chairs. We will communicate with you to confirm your interest before the final announcement.
