All international students are required to be enrolled in a medical health insurance plan. As a service to students, we have identified plans that meet our requirements in cooperation with our insurance partners. These plans can be purchased by students and billed to your account, and have been identified by DKU as a service to students in order to ease the process of obtaining health insurance. Although DKU can manage the financial exchange required to purchase these plans, you as the student remain the policyholder of that plan and DKU’s role would be purely administrative.
While all international students are required to be insured at a level that is commensurate with the above plans, you are not obligated to purchase it. You may purchase your own plan should you wish, as long as the coverage is at least commensurate with the DKU partner plans. If you wish to purchase your own plan, you can apply for a waiver with the Office of Student Insurance by emailing us and providing the coverage details (in English) of the plan you wish to use for the waiver. You can email us at studentinsurance@dukekunshan.edu.cn.
When students participate in a study abroad program, they need to abide by the student medical health insurance policies of their host institutions. Information about selecting a plan will be sent to students’ DKU email addresses over the summer.
